Day 6111 & 6112 (26 & 27/09/2026)

The weekend, and time to catchup with a few things in the office, as I have had a few large research jobs in recently, and been busy with them.  

We had a nice brunch. 

Then the three of us popped out, and ended up having a coffee & cake in a garden centre.  

Then home to do some stuff, before making a nice chicken, chips and salad in the evening.  

On Sunday I saw my parents for breakfast, then came home to do some work, covering another cricket game, the last of the season. 

Then I made a tasty roast pork, with a cheesy & creamy potato and fennel thing, with carrots & spinach, which I love.

With some nice veggie sausages for Thomas. 

Very tasty, and with a nice chilled glass of wine. 

Day 6110 (25/09/2026)

I went to the gym first thing, then did a few chores.

Then we got ready and drove to Gary & Elaine's on a journey that should have taken about 80minutes but took around 3hours, due to awful traffic on the M5. 

We had a great time, as always, and a tasty veggie tagine.  

We stayed later than we intended, then had an awful trip back, as the M5 was closed for 3 junctions. 

Day 6109 (24/09/2026)

I went to the gym first thing, then had a few chores to do around the house. 

Then we popped into town, to do a few things and stopped for a coffee and a cake. 

In the evening Thomas went of to a friends wedding in Exeter and we had a tasty jacket potato with cheese & tuna. 

Day 6108 (23/09/2026)

Back at the gym and then busy working in the office.

We finished the leftover bolognaise for a quick dinner.

Then we went out to The Brewhouse, to see Rhys James, who was very funny, as was his support Andrew White. 

Day 6107 (22/09/2026)

No gym today, as we had a few things to do firs thing, followed by some soft boiled eggs for brunch. 

In the evening my wife made some interesting papayas bravas for diner. 

Day 6106 (21/09/2026)

At the gym first thing.

Then doing some work in the office, as I had another quite large enquiry to complete. 

Then in the evening I made a nice pea risotto for dinner. 

Very tasty, with another glass of wine, which every Italian meal deserves. 

Day 6104 & 6105 (19 & 20/09/2026)

The weekend and had a few things to do in the office in the morning, then we had brunch, with the leftover smoked haddock frittatta, which was still lovely.  

In the afternoon I popped to the shops to get some supplies and bumped into this strange woman. 

In the evening, I went old school, with fish finger sandwiches and cheesy chips, which were bloody lovely. 

On Sunday I saw my parents for breakfast, then went home to do some things, and I made a nice Italian for dinner, starting with a nice burrata & tomato salad, with some nice cold meats. 

Then a nice veggie spaghetti bolognaise, with a glass of wine.  

Day 6103 (18/09/2026)

No gym today as I had an early Teams meeting to discuss next years University training that I was booked in for, but it was agreed that I would pull out off, as my heart is no longer really in it, and I fancy doing less, and need to concentrate on writing, which I still haven't done, despite having lots of plots for my books.

Had a nice brunch afterwards.  

Did some more work, as have quit a large research case in to do, then took my mum to the eye clinic.  

My wife made some very tasty smoked haddock frittata's for dinner. 

 

Day 6102 (17/09/2026)

A slightly busy day, with eye clinic appointments.  

In the evening I really fancied some fish & chip shop chips, so as we were out anyway, we stopped off and got some chips and bread roll for dinner, whilst Mouse had a pizza.  

Day 6101 (16/09/2026)

Back at the gym, fairly early, and it definitely felt like I had been away for a week.  

Then home to do some work and start tidying the garden up again, and starting to sort out the new flower bed, using yesterdays compost and bark.  

It's looking tidier but could only do half of it, as I didn't have enough stuff to complete and didn't want to be making a mess a near to the washing. 

I made some burritos and quesadillas in the evening, but I put what I thought were some mild jalapenos in them, and everyone else thought they were close to being so hot that there were inedible - wimps   

Day 6100 (15/09/2026)

Finishing off the complex report in the morning, then some nice crumpets & cheese for brunch. 

Had some quite sad & depressing news today, so had to deliver some bad news, but it could have been so much worse, and hopefully, given a long journey, they will be back to full health eventually. But life is shit sometimes. It was already going to be a full on busy medical week as it was, this just made it a truly miserable one.  

Later we went out to the garden centre, to buy some compost and bark for the new flower bed, and shared a nice bacon, brie & cranberry panini, with a coffee and cake. 

In the evening we had some tasty Cornish pasties with chips & beans. Slightly different to last weeks food but just as nice. 

Day 6099 (14/09/2026)

I had quite a bit of work to catch-up with, including quite a complex report, so no gym today.  

We had leftovers for dinner when Mrs Smith came home after work. 

Day 6097 & 6098 (12 & 13/09/2026)

Day Six of our holiday, and we woke in the hotel and had a cuppa & biscuits in the morning before checking out and making our way to Steyne Gardens, where we were able to park, and meet up with Lee for the Food Festival. 

I had a very tasty samosa and an onion bhaji. 

Whilst Mrs Smith and Lee went for a veggie fully loaded hash brown bowl. 

Then we had an ice cream and watched The Ministry Of Anthems, do a really entertaining set, of classics. 

They were very good, everyone enjoyed it. 

Then we drove home, with a quick stop for a charge, and our holiday was at an end. 

On Sunday, Mrs Smith was back at work, and I saw my parents for breakfast. I bought Mrs Smith some flowers. 

In the evening I made a lovely roast beef dinner, with a nice cauliflower, broccoli and leak cheese. 

It was very tasty, with a nice glass of chilled fizzy stuff.
