Day 5587 & 5588 (19 & 20/04/2025)

We had a nice sleep and a relaxing morning, then went for a lovely brunch of smoked salmon & scrambled eggs at The Malt Cafe.

Then we went for a walk along the sea-front and then met up with Tim and had a few drinks at  the Worthing Gin van.

Then we were joined by Lee and went to get some food at Jonny's.

Then we went back to the hotel to relax for a few hours, before meeting up for a few more drinks and some nibbles.

Then back to the hotel, where after midnight I realise i should have walked around the room a little bit more.

So close but so far from 10,000 steps.

Sunday we had a relaxing morning at the hotel before leaving and meeting Lee for brunch at The Malt Cafe.

Then we drove home and arrived shortly after Thomas returned from Glasgow, where it seems like he had a good time.

We had a nice cup of tea with our easter cakes which I got from The Malt Cafe.

Day 5586 (18/04/2025)

Good Friday and we went off to Worthing, and it rained for the whole journey but stopped when we arrived.

We were supposed to have a room with a view, so it was fair to assume, given we were on Worthing Seafront, that it would be a view of Worthing Seafront but we had one of the car park roof at the back of the hotel.

They said they didn't have a room with a sea view, so we stayed where we were.  After freshening-up we met up with Lee and had a few drink and a lovely Italian at Enzo's.

All finished off with some limoncello.

Then back to the hotel to collapse and recover.

Day 5585 (17/04/2025)

It was a busy day in the office, as I had a few reports to finish, as we are going off to Worthing for a few days.

In the late afternoon I dropped Thomas & Lemon off at the airport for Lemon Stag Do, so fingers crossed it all goes OK.

Day 5584 (16/04/2025)

It was a bit of a windy night and rather annoyingly at about 3am, when Thomas was getting up for work, my little greenhouse got blown over and nearly all of the herbs I had planted last week were scattered over the patio and the pots broken. Thomas and my wife tidied things up a bit before I was even aware it had happened, so the photo look a bit tame.

So after doing a bit of work in the morning, I had to spend a few hours tidying up and re-potting the herbs, and I have now moved the little greenhouse and hopefully secured it enough that it wont get blown over again.

My wife made a lovely curry in the evening.

Day 5583 (15/04/2025)

A relaxing start to the day with a nice brunch.

Then back to work and a bit of tidying up in the garden.

We had a tasty gammon in the evening.

Day 5582 (14/04/2025)

Back to work, getting thru more University reports.

We finished off the mushroom gnocchi for a late lunch, so didn't have dinner in the evening.

Day 5580 & 5581 (12 & 13/04/2025)

The weekend and time t relax a bit. We had a nice omelette for brunch.

In the evening I made a very tasty mushroom & gnocchi, with spinach in a cream sauce dinner.

I may have made too much :-)

But it was really tasty

Sunday I saw my parents for breakfast and did a bit of work. My wife came home early, so w had a cup of tea and watched telly before I made a nice roast chicken dinner.

Another tasty dinner.

Annoyingly, when I was tidying up I dropped some cutlery, went to catch it and unluckily managed to stab my hand quite painfully on a very sharp knife. There was quite a bit of blood but I managed to sort it out with a couple of quite large plasters :-(

Day 5579 (11/04/2025)

Another lovely sunny start to the day.

I was busy in the office, with a few work things.

Over the last few years, like most people, I have really cut down on what needed printing, especially compared to how much I used to print for work. In fact I would regularly get 1000's of sheets professionally printed for each course, so most times my office was full of boxes of the stuff. Now, with the new accountancy software, where I upload pdf & images of bills & invoices, I hardly print anything at all, and my physical company records are so much smaller this year than in other years. So a win win.

Had some nice fish & chips in the evening.

Day 5578 (10/04/2025)

Another bright sunny day in Taunton.

I was busy in the office for a lot of the day but from the kitchen noticed lots of feathers in the garden, and when I explored found the remain of a pigeon, which looked to have been attacked by a cat. Annoying and messy.

We finished the leftover lamb & rice dish for a late lunch, so didn't have dinner.

We booked a holiday for June and a few rooms for days out, I'm really looking forward to relaxing with Mrs Smith.

Day 5577 (09/04/2025)

I had a busy morning in the garden, re-potting the herbs and putting my new little greenhouse together.

When Mrs Smith came home from work we got changed and drove to Cardiff, to see Lou Sanders with my friend Sam.

It was a really funny show and a lovely evening, but a bit of a drive.

Day 5576 (08/04/2025)

We had a relaxing start to the day and a nice brunch.

I then jet-washed and tidied more of the garden, then we went off to the garden centre, where we had a nice coffee & cake and bought some bits and pieces.

In the evening I made a tasty rice & vegetable dish, using the left over lamb (with a vegi option for Thomas).

I had guessed how to do the pickled red onion, which didn't quite work but it was all very nice, as I had used loads of season & herbs to cook the rice and vegetables, and the lamb really added to it.
