Day 1874 (13/02/2015)

Friday started with a nice breakfast without a salesman trying to be matey with us.

When we left we stopped as soon as we had phone reception so I could call EE and slag of their useless lying scum of customer service staff who had again failed to get my account right.

Then we had a drive around into Newquay.

Then into Padstow where we were able to book into our room early and then wander around, during when my wife left her iPad in a coffee shop that then closed, which hopefully we can get back tomorrow.

In the evening we went to the seafood restaurant for the taster menu which was fantastic as always. It started with lovely bread & olives.

Then an amuse-bouche, some fishy stuff.

Then raw scallop with pickled ginger, lemon & cucumber, with chilli.

Next course was a fillet of sea bream with Hong Kong style broth, which you poured on, which was really tasty.

Then a brill & scallop ragu, which was unbelievably lovely.

Then a fish soup with parmesan crouton, which was lovely and very fishy.

Then a Lobster Thermidor, a classic that is always great.

Then afters of a rice pudding with sweet caramel and toasted pecans.

Then finishing off with a latte and some petit fours.

I wish I could eat here every week.

Day 1873 (12/02/2015)

The next day started with a great breakfast with the salesman!!!!!

It was strange sitting down to breakfast with a salesman you didn't know trying to be matey.

We spent a few hours being given the sales pitch and it seems quite good but if anything it just convinced us that we are not timeshare people as we are not organised enough to plan holidays a year in advance and we really should get out of the one we are in.

Out friends have a similar scheme and they have really long fantastic holidays all booked a year in advance but that's really not us.

Then we spent the afternoon using their facilities, relaxing in the pool, steam room but mostly the jacuzzi.

Had a lovely meal in the evening, with a goats cheese starter.

Roast partridge for mains.

And a chocolate torte and lemon pudding.

We may have over done the drinks with a drink before dinner, then a bottle on wine and then a liquor coffee.

But it was nice.

Day 1872 (11/02/2015)

I have been waiting for our few days away in Cornwall for several months now and was in desperate need of time away with my wife. As always we were late leaving home but we were there a few minutes after the room became available, it just meant that we had missed out on a days usage of the facilities but we weren't that fussed.

We are staying at Hustyn's a spa type time share place. We had been given 2 nights free B&B in exchange for sitting thru a hard sale meeting about the timeshare.

As well as being invited here you had to answer questions about occupation, personal life & salary to qualify. I put my wife down as working in retail sales, which is not a lie but probably not what they think it is.

We had a relax in the afternoon then a nice dinner, ham hock terrine with piccalilli for starters. Then I had steak & ale pie whilst my wife had calves liver, which was nice.

Then lemon posset and steamed pudding.

We took part in a quiz afterwards. Even with access to my phone we didn't cheat and came a very respectable third (out of nine). If I had listened to some of my wife's other guesses we may have won but she forgave me (we wouldn't have & she didn't).

Always lovely to finish of the evening with a Bailey's over ice.

Day 1871 (10/02/2015)

Another very chilly, icy & foggy start to the day.

I seem to have so much to do but am desperate to have a few days away with my wife in Cornwall. I think Sunday will be manic as there is now way I can get everything done before I go away and most of it has to be in by Monday.

Had a haircut then a swim & a steam.

Day 1870 (09/02/2015)

An early and icy start to the day,

dropping my wife's car off to the garage for an MOT.

I had to go into town as we are having a few days in Cornwall and wont be back until the evening of Valentines Day.

In the afternoon I went for a swim and a steam but my cold and cough have returned a bit so avoiding the gym this week.

Day 1868 & 1869 (07 & 08/02/2015)

A busy weekend still catching up from being away and now getting ready to go away again.

We went over to Bridgwater to do the flowers and on the way back stopped off at the drive-thru Costa Coffee to warm up with a lovely latte and a selection of little tarts.

It was great and I take back everything I ever said about putting up a drive-thru coffee shop.

My new laptop arrived today but will take quite a few days to set-up with all the software that I need.

It should be easier to cart around a smaller & lighter machine, albeit one that is a lot more powerful.

Did a lovely roast beef on Sunday, with Beef Dripping Yorkshire Puddings. Very nice.

Day 1867 (06/02/2015)

After going away to the Middle East the other week and missing home and not wanting to go away again for a while I have been invited to give a talk to some Health Insurance Investigators in Adelaide, Australia.

The aren't paying me but they are flying me over there, putting me up in a nice hotel for 4 days and I only have to speak for an hour.

There are a few drawbacks to this trip, apart from not being paid, the 4 days travelling for only 3 days there, the dreaded jet lag which always gets me but mainly when they booked the flights they booked me in economy, not even premier economy or business class but economy, me with the normally travellers.

Also I had about three other things booked that week, so have had to re-arrange another course and offer them a discount, I had tickets to see Stewart Lee and I have attached a meeting 12hrs after flying back.

It's an experience so it would be wrong to say No, so I didn't.

Went for a swim & a steam today.

Still trying to catch-up on my work.

Day 1866 (05/02/2015)

A busy day, still catching up but appearing to achieve very little.

In the afternoon I went for a quick swim then had a meeting with people in a similar position to me, don't ask it's another long story but thankfully there was food.

It was a fairly nice lasagne, followed by the second part of the meeting at another venue, where there were sandwiches & cake :-)

Nice to have Thomas back after his few days in London getting his camera sorted.

Day 1865 (04/02/2015)

Still busy, which isn't helped by not being able to concentrate much on work.

Went for a swim & steam again and thankfully haven't put much weight back on after the gap from the gym.

They had lovely cupcakes at the gym today for a cancer charity but I didn't have any, honestly.

In the evening I had some more porridge & banana, its lovely and it was sort of a diet day.

Day 1864 (03/02/2015)

A busy day and up early doing something to play the long game (don't ask it was just something I have to do to make sure people don't take advantage of me).

Thomas was off to London to get his camera & lenses serviced and checked and my wife was off to Bristol for Children Of The 90's.

She even looks lovely on the inside.

In the evening we went out to The Worlds End.

Even though I have had lovely meals in some very special restaurants you really can't beat Ham, Eggs & Chips at The Worlds End.

OK the Salty Caramel Sundae was an extravagance but it is really nice.
