Day 3052 (09/05/2018)

Our 31st Wedding Anniversary.

We started with a very a nice breakfast.

We had planned to go to The Willow Tree restaurant in Taunton but they had closed down and been sold two weeks ago, so I booked up to go to The Globe in Milverton, which also does very nice food but in the afternoon the phoned to say that had to cancel all the bookings as their extractor fan had broken and so they could use their ovens.

So we had to have a think and luckily we managed to get a table at The Bank in Taunton and we even took Thomas with us, so we could have a drink and he could then drive us back :-)

My & my wife went for the scallop starters, which was very tasty.

Thomas had the Chicken mains, my wife had the guinea fowl and I had the lamb, again all very tasty.

I had a raspberry & pimms cheesecake, which was so unbelievable light, my wife had the passion fruit tart, whilst Thomas had a chocolate pudding.

The my & my wife shared a cheese board and a lovely glass of 10 year old port before having a latte.

A very lovely evening.

Day 3051 (08/05/2018)

A day of doing a few things in the office, whilst the garden was being prepared for a new lawn being laid later in the week as it was mostly weeds & moss.

In the evening we went to see Kevin Bridges at the Brewhouse.

The only tickets I could get were in the middle of the front row, so we were tense the whole show not wanting to be picked on but thankfully he spoke to some others and not us and it was a really funny show.

Day 3050 (07/05/2018)

I woke to a lovely sunny Bank Holiday intent on relaxing but with a few things to do in the office before a nice bacon sandwich.

We have put out plenty of bird food but annoyingly a big bird has decided to start digging up the new pots, presumably looking for worms and dislodging my plants.

Bloody birds, not happy :-(

In the evening we went out to Oake Manor for my Dad's 80th birthday, which was very lovely.

Day 3048 & 3049 (05 & 06/05/2018)

The weekend started by clearing some work in the office. After a nice breakfast and doing all of my work I spent more time in the garden, planting all the plants, including the herbs, which smelt lovely.

Definitely aiming to spend more time in the garden this summer.

In the even we had a Mexican.

Yum Yum Yum.

Sunday I did actual manual work. Firstly I made some changes to the old falling apart pot stand, which was too small to put the pots of herbs. By taking off the bits that were falling off it was now the right size to have the new pots on them.

Much better :-)

Then there were a couple of bricks on the driveway which had been pushed up, one so much that my wife always trips over it. I thought it would be simple, just take the single brick out and scrape the sand and soil from underneath, which would be on top of the tree root and it would then sit back down better.

As soon as I lifted the brick I realised that the sand and soil had gone and it was all massive tree root or collections of roots that continued under neighbouring bricks.

It was exhausting but looked quite good by  the time I had finished.

I did some nice salmon for dinner, with new potatoes and hollandaise sauce :-)

Yum Yum Yum.

Day 3047 (04/05/2018)

A busy day in the office and then i popped out to do some shopping. I bought some herbs to plant but fell asleep in the afternoon so didn't get around to planting them but will finish the garden this weekend.

Day 3046 (03/05/2018)

It was a busy day as I had some stuff to do in the office then popped out to get a haircut, as i have a busy week next week and my hair would be too long by then, so I had to have it done now as it was already touching my ears.

Then I spent more time in the garden, even clearing the weeds and planting some things in the flowerbed at the end of the garden, no just doing the pots.

Obviously the gnomes and other things aren't down to me.

I even put more chairs out.

I will definitely be spending time in the garden this summer and having lots of BBQ's.
