Day 4147 & 4148 (08 & 09/05/2021)

It's the weekend and my wife is off for the week for our celebrations. Normally we would have gone away for a few days to treat ourselves but that is still not going to happen but I took some time off, which I desperately needed, although I still have loads to do but I will try and limit myself to just a few hours a day on the computer.

I went shopping in the afternoon and bought my wife some flowers for our anniversary. 

Then in the evening we had a nice Chinese take-away.

Sunday was our 34th Wedding Anniversary, which seems unbelievable. We were so young. Our kids are so much older than that now but still seem so young to us. 

I made eggs benedict for brunch.

Then in the evening I made a nice Italian dinner, with a mushroom and gnocchi dish.

It was lovely.

Day 4146 (07/05/2021)

It was another day in the office but after my wife finished work we popped over to my parents to wish my Dad Happy Birthday. 

We didn't stay as it still isn't really safe for us all to mix, so we went for a drive-thru drink afterwards. 

I really can't wait for some level of normality, so we can sit with for a while for tea & cake or take them out for dinner. It has been a long tough year for us all.

Another day in the office, which was was made less normal by doing an online presentation to a group from GCHQ on the work of Locate, the missing people organisation I helped form.

Another day in the office, lots to do but thankfully less pressure at the moment.

It's bank holiday and thankfully my wife didn't have to work, so after a relaxing morning we went to the coast for the day, starting in a very wet & windy Exmouth. 

 

I made a little picnic.

Then we went for a drive around the coast before going home and having bubble & squeak with the left over Sunday roast.

Day 4140 & 4141 (01 & 02/05/2021)

How can it be May already, this year is flying by.

We had a nice breakfast.

Then went up to Bristol. It wasn't really a day out but a regular visit to a place with a fantastic view of the city.

Thein in the evening we had a very nice hunters chicken, mac’n cheese with potato croquettes.

Sunday I did a roast beef dinner, tasty but not one of my best.

A fairly quiet and relaxed day in the office. I'm looking forward to a the bank holiday weekend and relaxing a bit.

Another day in the office hopefully work should be a bit easier over the next few months, with us all doing a bit less. In the afternoon I went for my second jab. 

Hopefully my wife will be feeling better soon and will have the second jab and then life may return to normal soon.

The start of another week but still not feeling great.

 

Day 4133 & 4134 (24 & 25/04/2021)

It's the weekend, with a bit of time to relax. I tidied the garden a bit more, slowly it's getting back in shape for the summer. 

In the evening I made my first risotto in the evening. 

It was a mushroom risotto with salmon, prawns & scallops, which was quite impressive. 

On Sunday, as the weather was nice I thought I would do something different from the usual roast. I did some pesto coated chicken thighs, with new potatoes and some roasted vegetables, which was very tasty.

Another day in the office but thankfully the week is ending, as I have felt quite run down and under the weather all week. I think I really need a few days away with my wife to unwind & relax.

In the afternoon we did some Covid tests for Children of the 90's, which involved supplying quite a bit of blood :-(

 

It was all rather too much for my squeamish wife. 

Had some nice vegi wraps in the evening.

Back to work in the office, with lots to do.

It was going to be just another busy day in the office and on zoom but shortly after our cleaner arrived she was taken ill and we had to call an ambulance for her.

Thankfully she is OK but I took the day off and spent time with my family as it had been an upsetting incident.

Weekend and lots to do in the office but also plans to spend some time in the garden and tidying the house.

In the evening I got some fish & chips, which was a nice treat.

Then on Sunday I did some very tasty pan fried pork chops.

Busy day but ideas of where work is going in the future. Slightly disappointed not to have had my second vaccination this week.

A busy day with a zoom presentation to the Women's Institute in the evening, so I made an early dinner, using some gammon to make a tasty carbonara.
