Day 2444 (06/09/2016)

I managed to get the last of the reports done in the morning, which meant I could leave for Ireland without much extra to do.

Every other time I've done training in Ireland it has been in Dublin, so I get to the airport, grab a cab and with 15minutes I'm in my hotel. Unfortunately this weeks training is in Galway, on the other side of Ireland. There is a nearer airport but the dates didn't match the flights, and I would have had to arrive a day early and then leave a day later. So I had to hire a car a drive from one side of Ireland to the other. We think of Ireland as a fairly small country and it is, until you have to drive across it. Plus the signs are in Kilometres not Miles, so at about 220 kilometres it looks a depressingly long way.

So in a car had never driven before (a Renault Clio), on roads I had never driven on before (they are new since I was here last and are OK but have toll booths every so often) I set off and a mere 2 1/2 hrs later I was in Galway trying to find my hotel.

The hotel was quite nice but by the time I got there room-service was closing so I ordered my dinner from reception.

And then to sleep.

Day 2443 (05/09/2016)

Much the same as the weekend but more so.

Day 2441 & 2442 (03 & 04/09/2016)

Basically a weekend of catching up and working, doing reports and preparing for courses.

Unfortunately the next 6 weeks will be very similar.

Day 2440 (02/09/2016)

Nice to be back home. I missed the start of the month, September already, so it's Kylie time.

It was a busy day with lots of work to do then into Bristol, so my wife could visit her mother and I could go on a leaving do for one of the boys (old men now) from the van.

A really fun night with some great guys.

Day 2439 (01/09/2016)

So after a much needed sleep and nice breakfast we made our way back to Westfield, where we had some healthy smoothies whilst waiting for Thomas.

By the time he arrived it was lunchtime, so another restaurant / burger joint, which was quite tasty :-)

That was to share, not just mine.

Then we had a walk over to West Ham's new ground.

Then we went up the Arcelor Mittal Orbit Olympic viewing platform.

You get a very good view but some of the flooring is made out of thin metal with holes in to so you can see how high up you are and it scared the crap out of me. Thankfully the slid was fully booked but I was going to take the lift down but my wife said the stairs on the outside would be nice. They weren't they were horrible. I was glad to get down and have a nice cup of tea.

Then off to Levi Roots restaurant for some Caribbean food.

It was very filling and very tasty and or my wife very very very hot, as she ended up eating a large piece of scotch-bonnet pepper.

Then a drive home after a busy few days.

It was really great to see the kids but we perhaps overdid it for the oldies that we have become.

Day 2438 (31/08/2016)

No cars on fire last night, so it was a fairly good nights sleep sand then another nice breakfast at The White Horse (obviously I only had healthy fruit & yogurt).

Then we went for wander along the beach in the sunshine.

Then a nice afternoon tea in one of our favourite tea shops.

Then we left to drive to London to catch up with Thomas. It was an awful journey, mostly because we went via his new place in Hackney, which is actually quite nice.

So it was quite late when we arrived at the hotel but as we were meeting Thomas after work it didn't matter much.

So we had a later diner at Cafe Football, where Thomas got involved in the deadline day news as there was some French player I had never heard of, clearly involved in getting into or out of a deal.

Then back to the hotel to collapse and sleep (totally knackered).

Day 2437 (30/08/2016)

We had a slightly interrupted sleep, owing to a car outside catching firing and slightly blowing up at about 4:30am.

Anyway it was a lovely sunny day in Brighton, so after breakfast we caught the bus into town and had  wonder around.

Then we went up the new i360 viewing platform, which was quite good.

Then we went o a place that specialises in waffles, crepes and ice-creams for a late lunch early dinner.

Fantastic but we (me) probably overdid it a bit.

Then after a wander around we ended outside at a bar with a jug of Pimms watching the sunset.

I love Brighton.

Day 2436 (29/08/2016)

Bank Holiday Monday and after breakfast we joined the traffic on the A303 on the way to Rottingdean & Brighton with a few things in the cart for the kids.

We eventually got to "Our Kids" and settled down with a cuppa & some biscuits.

Then off to The White Horse, where we had a room with a "sea view"

Then we went to the marina to walk around and try out the new restaurants. We ended up in TGI and had some very nice cocktails & smoothies whilst waiting for a table.

Then we shared some nachos.

I couldn't decide between a burger or hot dog, so went for both, very nice.

I may have over indulged but didn't have an afters so technical I was good.
