Day 3134 (30/07/2018)

Back to work.

The other week when I was leaving Cardiff I knew I would get a ticket for going in a bus lane, so after getting the ticket in the post I sent of my excuse.

"I have received your PCN, which I was slightly expecting, given the events of that day. I had been attending a conference at the Park Plaza Hotel and had parked in the NCP opposite and was on my way back to Somerset using my satnav, which was directing the way I had come, along so down Greyfriars Road, turning right into Kingsway and then left onto the Boulevard De Nantes and then right on to the North Road and out of Cardiff.

As I went up Greyfriars Road to turn right on to Kingsway, the road was blocked with three Mega Busses (possibly two going in the same direction as I wanted to go and one coming the other way), which are just visible in the background of the third of your photographs. I was unsure if they were parked or one or two had broken down and the other was a replacement. Traffic was waiting to pass in either direction.

In from of me were two vehicles. At the front waiting to turn right into Kingsway, was I believe a grey coloured Ford Transit type vehicle, which had tried to drive alongside the first Mega Bus but had become somewhat trapped between the Mega Bus and the silver metal bollards separating the road from the foot path. This meant that no traffic would be able to go along this section of the Kingsway.

In-between me and the transit type vehicle was possible a disabled driver in a people carrier type vehicle, who given that the road was now blocked, was trying to do a three point turn at this junction and go back down Greyfriars Road but she appeared to have got into difficulty due to the transit still overhanging the junction.

I had been sat at the junction for around 3 or 4 minutes, waiting these vehicles to clear, so I could either go down Kingway on the desired route to North Road or to be able to turn around safely and go back down Greyfriars Road, when I became aware of a local Cardiff bus behind me, who could not progress as I was essentially blocking there way.

After another minute or two I think the bus flashed its lights, indicating that it wanted me to move out of its way. The disabled drive was still trying to manoeuvre for a three point turn, so I was left either carrying on to block the bus or to drive forward, which is what I did, to allow your buss to move on.

If your bus hadn’t been pushing me out of its way I wouldn’t have entered the bus lane, I would have waited until the disabled lady had complete her manoeuvre and done similar to go back down Greyfriars, as that was basically still in the same direction as I wanted to go.

If you don’t agree with this Formal Representation then I am happy to take it further on appeal and plead my case in front of an adjudicator. If that is to occur, then please take this as a request under the DPA GDPR to retain and supply to me the Council CCTV & Parking Enforcement Video & on-board video from your bus which was behind me, showing all relevant information of my vehicle, which will confirm what I have said."

Fingers crossed they agree and I don't have to pay the money.

Had a very interesting meeting in the afternoon, which might be something I concentrate on for the next few years.

Had a nice salad in the evening, with backed halloumi, figs, rocket and balsamic vinegar, one of our favourites :-)

Day 3132 & 3133 (28 & 29/07/2018)

A relaxing weekend, started with a nice brunch.

I did a bit of work but mostly chilling. In the evening we finished the Mexican and I did some hot dogs, which went down very well.

On Sunday I did a nice joint of lamb, with herbs from our garden, for a nice family dinner with my Mum & Dad, prior to them flying out to Greece for Pete & Anna's wedding.

It was very nice :-)

Day 3131 (27/07/2018)

It's My Birthday, I even had a personalised Google graphic :-)

I did a few things and went o see my parents in the morning and then when my wife finished work we went to Bridgwater, which we try to do every month but we make sure we do on this, which will always overshadow my birthday.

Then home and I was going to do a BBQ but after a heatwave it was forecast fora long weekend end of showers, so I did a Mexican followed by an eton mess.

Day 3130 (26/07/2018)

I was up early, to put a parking permit on my car and start work with Richard but Jim, feeling the effects of the booze stayed in bed until quite late.

After a few hours work we went for breakfast, Richard had a full bifta but I just had a nice bacon sandwich.

Them more work, in the heat as the bi-fold doors broke and we had to get a locksmith our for an expensive fix.

Then a long drive home in the cool of the evening and back home by 11pm.

Day 3129 (25/07/2018)

Thankfully I didn't have to fly to Dublin first thing this morning, so I had time to do some office things before driving to London to meet a friend for a curry and have a meeting.

It was really hot but I thought I couldn't really wear shorts to meet Colin and go to the restaurant, so I wore long trousers for the long hot drive, which was quite nice as my air conditioning was on full blast. When I arrived in London I met up with Colin, who was wearing shorts :-(

Quite a nice curry and great to catch-up with Colin.

Then afterwards I drove up to Walthamstow to meet my business partners for tomorrows, they had been out and wear both very drunk, so we were up util 2am talking (mostly they were taking rubbish).

Day 3128 (24/07/2018)

Felling even better this morning but have a couple of busy days before a nice relaxing long weekend for my birthday. The day started with a nice breakfast (still technically part of my diet).

It was a bit cooler today, normally we would think it was still warm but after the recent hot weather it seemed almost cold.

I could face beans on toast with my recovering sore throat, so I had a nice cheesy tuna pasta with the family.

Monday, 23 July 2018

Day 3127 (23/07/2018)

My throat is feeling so much better, it still hurts but I feel up to eating again.

In the afternoon I cut the grass.

It was very hot doing it, so glad I wore my cricket hat.

Now it needs a good watering, which will be done during Love Island tonight.

Saturday, 21 July 2018

Day 3125 & 3126 (21 & 22/07/2018)

After a good nights sleep I was up fairly early, unfortunately still with a painful throat & tongue, so I had a beaches lemon, with honey, hopefully it might help.

My wife had made some lovely pancakes but I could hardly eat anything.

In the afternoon I ended up at the hospital to see a doctor who told me I have an inflamed ulcer at the back of my throat and put me on a course of antibiotics. It appears that whatever I had after New York wasn't killed off by the last set of antibiotics but only subdued and it has now come back. Hopefully the new antibiotics will sort it out.

We were supposed to be at a party on Saturday but I just wasn't well enough, which was annoying.

Sunday I felt a bit better so went to my parents for breakfast but it took about 30 minutes to eat a croissant.

I made a nice salad in the afternoon but really struggled to eat any of it.

Hopefully I will be feeling better soon as its been good for my diet but nothing else.

Day 3124 (20/07/2018)

Just about back into the mood for work as the weekend approaches.

My throat & tongue are really painful, so painful that beans on toast would have been too painful, so I went for a soft sandwich but couldn't even manage that. I went to bed early as wasn't feeling well.

Still contemplating what to have for dinner on my birthday, can't decide between a BBQ, a Mexican, a mixed grill, the list is endless as long as it contains meat as for the last month I have basically been vegetarian during the week.

Thursday, 19 July 2018

Day 3123 (19/07/2018)

Busy in the office.

The sun flower & the gladiola are coming on :-)

Wednesday, 18 July 2018

Day 3122 (18/07/2018)

Slowly catching up on my work and nearly back into the swing of things.

The gardener came over and gave the grass a bit of a cut, just to make it more manageable for me.

Its looking a bit better and meant I could walk on it and tidy up the rose bush which was pulling the archway over. The mini cucumber is growing well but is still mini.

Back on the beans on toast tonight.

Day 3121 (17/07/2018)

Most of the day spent in the office.

No beans on toast tonight as we finished the Chinese from Saturday :-) but the diet is still working as I have had to change my belt as the current one was too large and my trousers were falling down.

Tuesday, 17 July 2018

Day 3120 (16/07/2018)

It's Thomas's Birthday but I had to be in court in Bristol with one of my cases against the police. The case went very well and so should be finished shortly.

Then after a long discussion it was back home for family time for Thomas's Birthday.

In the evening we went Tiffins for an Indian Buffet which was very nice but I was quite restrained.

It was quite tasty, with a nice selection etc.

Back on the beans on toast tomorrow.

Then home for the Birthday cake, which I declined :-(

Sunday, 15 July 2018

Day 3118 & 3119 (14 & 15/07/2018)

Saturday but no nice breakfast as my wife was at work covering for somebody.

In the evening we had a nice Chinese take-away, which was great after another week of beans on toast.

Then with The Voice Kids on the telly I sat outside with an ice-lolly then watered the garden until the telly was watchable.

Then Sunday, World Cup Final day, my wife was working late. It was also still really hot, so I made a nice prawn cocktail dinner.

Then a Do It Yourself Eton Mess :-)

The World Cup finished with France winning and luckily I didn't quite come last in our fantasy league :-)

Day 3117 (13/07/2018)

Another nice day, when I managed to do a bit of work but not much.

In the afternoon I had another tomato & cucumber sandwich for dinner and then went to Bristol to "help" the PCC spend money on victims. They may not of actually welcomed my input but I was happy to give my views :-)

They had quite a few munchies & chocolate but I was good and just had a glass of water.

Whilst being good I did claim the maximum amount of expenses :-)

I must say I hadn't had a chance to walk thru this side of Bristol for years and it is now looking very nice, with lots of new bars & restuarants.

Day 3116 (12/07/2018)

It was much cooler with a bit of rain as I drove to Cardiff for a meeting.

There was lots of nice food at the event but I just had a bowl of fruit and a glass of water.

I managed to escape a bit early and when I got back I discovered my wife had bought some more plants, to add to our garden.

So we now have a mini cucumber plant and a nice sun flower.

Developments with one of my cases against the police, which hopefully should be finished soon.
